Child maintenance solicitors are lawyers who specialize in obtaining child maintenance payments from a parent who does not live with their child. The law in the UK is that a parent with care, usually the mother, is entitled to get financial support from a parent without care, usually the father.
The solicitors will generally be paid by the parent without care and will take into account factors such as income and assets of both parents before agreeing what is an appropriate amount for the other parent to pay.
