The Liberal Democrat Peer, Lord Marks, has introduced a new Cohabitation Rights Bill in the House of Lords. The Private Members Bill seeks to enact the current recommendations of the Law Commission with the introductory rubric stating that the Bill would:
"Provide certain protections for persons who live together as a couple or have lived together as a couple; and to make provision about the property of deceased persons who are survived by a cohabitant; and for connected purposes."
The First Reading occurred on 10 October but no date has yet been set for the Second Reading.
